The Garrity rights,
Garrity rule or
Garrity warning
is
a protection that is
utilized by many law
enforcement
officers each year.
Simply, Garrity is
an invocation that
may be made by an
officer being
questioned
regarding actions
that may result in
criminal
prosecution.

The Garrity rule
goes by several
different names
including the Garrity
Right, the Garrity
Law, the Garrity
Rule, the Garrity
Advisement and the
Garrity Warning. To

Union Members,

I have asked Paul Lutomski with City
Pension/Personnel to speak at the
next Union meeting on March 9th.
Lutomski will have information
regarding our PEHP account and
what the money in the account can
and can't be used for.  He will also
discuss what needs to be done prior
to an officer retiring so the transition
from active officer to retired
officer is as smooth as possible.  He
will also answer any questions
regarding our pension/PEHP/DROP
accounts.  This is a good opportunity
to show up and asked questions if
you have any.
I have also spoke with recently
retired Captain, Dennis Duckworth.
He has agreed to come and talk with
the union about the DROP program,
PEHP and his experience with
his recent retirement and what to
expect when you retire.
